In March we organize riding tours from Saltvík farm in the north of Iceland. We make some day rides from Saltvík farm along the coastline of the Arctic Ocean and then spend a day experiencing the amazing feeling of riding on the frozen lake Mývatn. Iceland in winter costume is truly an adventure to experience!
In March, there is a good chance you will see the Northern Lights in action in the Arctic sky above north Iceland. We will do our best to find the best possibilities in the area for watching the Northern Lights when they show up in the evening!
Accommodation is in double rooms (made up beds) at Saltvík farm and at Selhotel in Mývatn, Shared bathrooms at Saltvík farm but private at Sel hotel.

Tag 1
Meeting point at Eagle air airport in Reykjavík in the morning for the domestic flight to Húsavík . the group is picked up at Húsavík airport and then we drive to Saltvík farm ( 5 min.) where the tour starts. After setling down in Saltvík we use the first day to ride along the coastline towards the village of Húsavík and back to Saltvík (2-3 hours ride). We spend the afternoon in Húsavík sightseeing, visiting local museums and the swimming pool where it´s excellent to relax in one of the outdoor hot pools before heading home to Saltvík for dinner and a cozy evening after the first day!
Tag 2
Today we try out some beach riding at the Arctic seaside! We then ride along the coast and up in the hills above Húsavík with an amazing view over the bay of Skjálfandi and the arctic circle to the north! ( 4-5 hours )
Tag 3
Riding on Ice!… We take our horses in a trailer towards lake Mývatn, there we spend the day riding on the frozen lake. Mývatn is one of the pearls of Icelandic nature and the scenary and the nature around the lake is truly breathtaking. In the afternoon we visit “Jarðböð” natural hot lagoon which is open for bathing and ideal for realaxing after the ride!
Tag 4
Once a year, icelandic riders in the north come together and compete with their horses on the frozen lake Mývatn. We spend this day whatcing the competition where all the best horses and riders of the north try to show their best performance and fastes pace on the ice. In the afternoon we have our farwell dinner at Sel hotel Mývatn.

After a hearty breakfast we fly to Reykjavík, approx arrival in Reykjavík around 12.00
